This document explains the different levels of article protection on Historical India.

This document explains the different levels of article protection on Historical India. Generally, these are automated protection levels which prevents developed articles from vandalism. Article protection is a automated technical restriction applied on an article to prevent vandalism against developed articles. Various levels of article protection levels are described below which are currently present on the platform.

Once the article is created, it has relatively low information with lots of factors to improve. As article edits increase, article gets more and more developed. The idea behind article protection is that only users with certain access level and expertise will be able to edit it once the article gets relatively developed. These conditions of user access will automatically get increased with article edits as article gets developed. There are two major things that are achieved by auto protecting articles.

  1. The credibility of information on article increases since it gets developed by experienced users on platform.
  2. It prevents vandalism on article (with or without intention) by inexperienced users.

Article Protection Levels

Level-0 Protection

  • Condition : Number of edits of article should be less than or equal to 5.
  • User access : Anyone can edit the article.

Level-1 Protection

  • Condition : Number of edits of article should be more than 5 and less than or equal to 50.
  • User access : Only logged in users can edit the article.

Level-2 Protection

  • Condition : Number of edits of article should be more than 50 and less than or equal to 500.
  • User access : Only editor and user levels above editor can edit the article.

Level-3 Protection

  • Condition : Number of edits of article should be more than 500 and less than or equal to 700.
  • User access : Only contributor and user levels above contributor can edit the article.

Level-4 Protection

  • Condition : Number of edits of article should be more than 700 and less than or equal to 800.
  • User access : Only expert and user levels above expert can edit the article.

Level-5 Protection

  • Condition : Number of edits of article should be more than 800 and less than or equal to 900.
  • User access : Only guide and user levels above guide can edit the article.
