Brihadishwara Temple

This is a eleventh century temple attributed to Rajaraja Chola, and is the first temple to be constructed completely of granite. It is part of the Great Living Chola Temples UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Brihadeshwara temple was constructed under the patronage of Rajaraja Chola to mark his victories over other South Indian dynasties. It is the first all-granite structure in the world.
